Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 56 cm (22").
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 5 cm (2") more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm (3.4") long: count how many fit along your strip.

Atlas carried a weight no one else could lift. Strong things do not need to look heavy. This cross is built from flat stainless steel bars that interlock front to back, three vertical crossing three horizontal, with open gaps that keep it light on the neck. Every edge is ground and polished. It hangs mid-chest from a wide, tapered bail: silver-tone on a fine cable chain, or gold-tone as a pendant only, without a chain.
- Steel that does not rust or go green
- Open, interlocking bar design
- Silver-tone or gold-tone
Details & specs
The pendant and chain are stainless steel, a metal that holds up to daily wear and does not rust. The cross is made of flat bars that interlock front to back, leaving open gaps between them. From a distance it reads as a cross; up close, as architecture. The openings keep it light on the neck.
Every bar is ground and polished, so the edges are smooth and the faces are bright. A wide, tapered bail holds the pendant square to the chest and stops it twisting on the fine cable chain. Choose polished silver-tone steel or the warm gold-tone, a plated finish, as we say plainly.
How to wear it
With a white tee it is the only thing you need. Under an open-collar shirt or a light knit, it sits just inside the placket and shows when you move. For a night out, let it hang over a dark crew-neck and keep the rest simple: one watch, one ring, both in the same tone as the cross.
Choosing your size
There is one pendant size, 1.1 x 0.8 in (28 x 20 mm), so nothing to measure. The silver-tone comes on a fine cable chain; the gold-tone is sold as a pendant only, chain not included. The cross reads best a few inches below the collarbone, mid chest, which is where it lands on most men. Choose by tone: silver-tone for a cooler, low-key look, gold-tone for warmth against the skin. Match it to the watch he already wears.
Why this piece
Depth instead of a flat slab
The bars cross front and back, giving the cross shadow and dimension as you move.
Steel you keep on
Stainless steel does not rust or turn your skin green, so showers, sweat and the sea are no issue.

Questions
Can the interlocking bar cross stay on in the pool?
Yes. Stainless steel does not rust, so the shower, the gym, the pool and the sea are fine. A quick wipe keeps the ground and polished bar edges bright.
How do I wear the interlocking cross for a night out?
Let it hang over a dark crew-neck and keep the rest simple: one watch and one ring, both in the same tone as the cross.
How do I care for the gold-tone?
Put it on after perfume and lotion, keep cleaning products away, and wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wear.
How is this cross put together?
From flat stainless steel bars: three vertical bars cross three horizontal ones, interlocking front to back. The open gaps between them give it shadow and depth.
What is a cable chain?
A cable chain is a simple run of oval links joined one into the next. It is fine and flexible, so it lets the cross be the focal point.
Does the cross flip around when I move?
No. A wide, tapered bail holds the pendant square to the chest and stops it twisting on the chain.
Silver-tone or gold-tone interlocking cross: which suits him?
Silver-tone, the polished stainless steel, gives a cooler, low-key look; gold-tone, a plated finish, adds warmth against the skin. Match it to the watch he already wears.
Is it a good first chain for my son?
Yes. It was made with a son or a friend starting his first chain in mind, and there is no ring or bracelet size to get wrong.
