Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 56 cm (22").
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 5 cm (2") more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm (3.4") long: count how many fit along your strip.

A precise square-link chain that keeps things simple.
Atlas never set the world down. You do not get to either, so the things you wear should keep up. This 1.5mm box chain does: its square links sit tight against each other in a smoother, more exact line than a rope or curb chain. It lies flat on the skin and flashes softly as you move. Silver or gold-tone, in four lengths from 18 to 24 inches.
- Steel that stays on through the shower
- Lobster clasp opens with one thumb
- Silver or gold-tone, 18 to 24 in
Details & specs
The chain is built from uniform square box links in stainless steel, set tight against one another for a continuous, flexible line. The square profile is what gives it that clean, exact look. Stainless steel does not rust and does not turn the skin green, so you can wear it in the water, at work and through training.
Silver is the steel's own color; gold-tone is an electroplated finish over the steel. It fastens with a lobster clasp that opens with one thumb and stays closed while you move. At 1.5mm wide it is light enough to layer and strong enough to hold a pendant. It comes as a chain alone, ready to wear plain.
How to wear it
On its own, a 20" reads clean over a plain tee or a crewneck. Under an open collar shirt, let a few links show for a quiet finish with a blazer or a suit. Add a pendant, or layer it with a slightly longer chain and a watch in the same tone for a stacked look that still feels calm. Gold-tone warms up navy and white; silver goes with steel.
Choosing your size
Four lengths: 18" (45cm) sits high, close to the collarbone. 20" (50cm) is the common choice and rests just below it. 22" (55cm) and 24" (60cm) drop toward the top of the chest, which works well with a pendant or over a tee. If you are between two lengths, or he is broad through the neck and chest, take the longer one.

Questions
Does salt water hurt the Atlas 1.5mm box chain in silver or gold-tone?
No. Stainless steel handles sweat, showers and salt water without rusting. On the gold-tone, rinse in fresh water after the sea so the electroplated color stays even.
Is it strong enough for a pendant?
Yes. At 1.5mm the box chain holds a pendant well. Choose 22" or 24" so the pendant sits below the collarbone instead of at the throat.
Will the gold-tone wear off?
It is a plated finish made for everyday wear. Put the chain on after perfume and keep it away from harsh cleaners, and the color holds up longer.
Is 1.5mm too thin to notice?
It is a slim, clean line: visible over a tee and discreet under a collar. For more presence, choose a wider chain.
How is a box chain different from a snake chain?
A snake chain is a smooth tube with no visible links. A box chain shows small square links, which give it a crisp, exact look.
Should I give the silver or the gold-tone 1.5mm box chain if I don't know his style?
Silver. It is the steel's own color and goes with any watch. Gold-tone, an electroplated finish, is the warmer pick for a man who wears navy, white and gold-tone accessories.
Can I put it on one-handed?
Yes. The lobster clasp opens with one thumb and stays closed while you move.
Will it keep its shape?
Yes. The square links are set tight against one another, so the chain keeps a continuous, even line with daily wear.
