The chain is titanium steel, a stainless steel alloy that does not rust through daily wear, water or sweat. The links are twisted into a continuous rope profile, which gives the chain its rounded body and the small flashes of light that run along its length. It stays on through the shower, the gym and a swim in the sea.

The surface is electroplated for an even silver tone from clasp to clasp; we mention it because we would want to know. Widths run 2mm, 2.4mm, 3mm and 4mm. A lobster clasp closes it at the back of the neck. The thin versions disappear under a collar, while the 4mm reads clearly on its own.

How to wear it

With a white tee, a 20" or 22" lands near the top of the chest and gives a plain outfit a center line. Under an open collar, go 18" or 20" so the rope shows against skin instead of fabric. Pair a 2mm or 2.4mm with a steel watch for a low-key look, or wear the 4mm alone with a black crewneck.

Choosing your size

Lengths: 18" (45cm), 20" (50cm), 22" (55cm), 24" (60cm), 26" (65cm), 28" (70cm) and 31" (80cm). On most men 18" stays close to the collarbone, 20" sits at the top of the chest and 22" a little lower; the longer lengths fall over a sweater. Widths: 2mm and 2.4mm subtle, 3mm balanced, 4mm the boldest. If he has a broad neck, add one length.
