Men's Barbell Stud Earrings in 316L Steel
For the man who owns who he is.
Two flat discs and a threaded post. The stud that stays put.
Atlas stood at the edge of the world and held his ground. This stud holds its place the same way. Two flat discs of 316L surgical stainless steel are joined by a threaded post, so the front sits flush against the lobe and the back screws on firmly. The surface is polished smooth. Choose 8, 10, 12 or 14mm, in natural silver steel, black, blue or gold-tone.
- 316L steel: no rust in the shower
- Screw-on barbell back
- Four sizes, from 8 to 14mm
Details & specs
The studs are 316L surgical stainless steel, a grade of steel known for resisting rust, which is why it suits pieces you never take out. They have a satisfying weight in the hand and a smooth, polished surface on both discs. The front disc sits flush against the lobe for a clean, modern profile.
The two flat discs are connected by a threaded post, and the back screws on so the stud does not work loose during the day. Silver is the natural steel; black, blue and gold-tone are plated finishes. Each color keeps the same simple round shape, so the only real decision is how much contrast you want.
How to wear it
With a plain tee or knitwear, a single disc stud is enough jewelry on its own. It also works with business casual: an open-collar shirt and a steel watch. Black and blue read graphic and modern, gold-tone adds warmth, and silver matches anything. Wear the small sizes for work and the bigger ones when you want the stud to be seen.
Choosing your size
Width is the diameter of the disc: 8mm, 10mm, 12mm or 14mm. 8mm is the quiet option and suits a first piercing. 10mm and 12mm are the classic visible stud sizes, the range most men land in. 14mm is the boldest, clearly visible from across a room. If you are unsure, 10mm is a safe middle.
Why this piece
A minimal shape
A flat, round disc goes with any style and never competes with the rest of what you wear.
Surgical-grade steel
316L stainless steel does not rust and does not turn your skin green, so sweat, showers and the sea are no problem.

Questions
Can the 316L disc barbell studs stay in for a swim in the sea?
Yes. 316L surgical stainless steel does not rust, so sweat, showers and the sea are no problem, and the threaded back keeps the stud from working loose. A soft cloth keeps both discs bright.
Which size should I get?
8mm for a subtle look, 10mm or 12mm for a standard visible stud, and 14mm for the boldest presence on the lobe.
Will the black, blue or gold-tone color hold?
Those three are plated finishes over the steel, made for daily wear. They keep their color longer when cologne and cleaning products stay off them.
What is 316L surgical stainless steel?
316L is a low-carbon grade of stainless steel with added molybdenum, which makes it especially resistant to corrosion. It is the grade commonly used for body jewelry.
Is surgical steel OK for a nickel allergy?
Not guaranteed. 316L is widely used for body jewelry, but like most stainless steels it contains some nickel. If you have a known nickel allergy, check with your doctor before buying.
How does the screw back work?
The back disc screws onto the threaded post. Turn it until snug and it will not work loose during the day; unscrew it to take the stud out.
Do both discs show?
Only the front disc shows. It sits flush against the lobe, and the second disc is the back, behind the ear.
Disc stud or stone stud: which is more low-key?
The flat disc. With no stone, it reads as a clean shape rather than a flash of light, and goes with any outfit.
