Shown in inches and US sizesMeasure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
With a ring that fits (most accurate)
- Lay a ring you wear on that finger on the ruler and measure the inside diameter, edge to edge, in inches.
- Find that diameter in the table below.
With a strip of paper
- Wrap the strip around the base of your finger: it must still slide over the knuckle.
- Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat and measure it in inches: that is the circumference. Find it in the table below.
Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.
| US | EU | UK | Diameter | Circumf. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 49 | J½ | 0.62" | 1.94" |
| 6 | 52 | L½ | 0.65" | 2.04" |
| 7 | 54 | O | 0.68" | 2.14" |
| 8 | 57 | Q | 0.71" | 2.24" |
| 9 | 59 | S | 0.75" | 2.34" |
| 10 | 62 | U | 0.78" | 2.44" |
| 11 | 65 | W | 0.81" | 2.54" |
| 12 | 67 | Y | 0.84" | 2.65" |
| 13 | 70 | Z+1 | 0.87" | 2.74" |
| 14 | 72 | Z+3 | 0.91" | 2.85" |
| 15 | 75 | Z+4 | 0.94" | 2.94" |
| 16 | 77 | Z+6 | 0.97" | 3.04" |
Half sizes sit halfway between two rows (about 0.4 mm of diameter).
Good to know: measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger. Wide bands (8 mm and more) feel tighter: if you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
An old medal design, cut deep enough to catch light across a room.
Atlas took the whole sky on his back and never asked for help. Men who live that way often choose one piece with meaning. This signet carries the Saint Benedict medal on a full, flat face, with the cross and the lettering cut deep enough to catch the light. Scrolled shoulders taper into a smooth band. Made of titanium steel, in gold-tone or silver-tone, US sizes 7 to 12.
- Does not rust, even after the beach
- Deep-relief medal face, scrolled shoulders
- Gold-tone or silver-tone, US 7 to 12
Details & specs
Cast in titanium steel, a stainless steel alloy that resists rust and corrosion and holds its shape through everyday knocks. The ring has a substantial weight in the hand, with a broad face and thick shoulders that give it real presence. Scroll detailing runs down both shoulders into a comfortable rounded band.
The medal face is worked in relief: the cross at the center, the surrounding letters and the ring of text around the border. On the silver-tone version, darkened recesses make the lettering stand out against the polished high points. The gold-tone version is a plated finish with a warmer, more even look, which we would rather state plainly.
How to wear it
On the ring finger it reads traditional; on the index finger it reads bolder, more like a statement. Pair the silver-tone with a steel watch, a white tee and dark denim, or a plain shirt with an open collar. The gold-tone works with brown leather, a watch on a tan strap and anything you would wear to a dinner or a family celebration.
Choosing your size
Offered in US sizes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. If you know your size, order it; if you are between sizes, take the larger one, because a wide signet band sits tighter than a thin ring. Measure the finger you actually plan to wear it on, at the end of the day when hands are at their largest.

Questions
Can the Saint Benedict signet stay on through daily showers?
Yes. Titanium steel does not rust or turn your skin green. After the pool or the sea, rinse and dry the relief so the medal face stays clean.
Will the gold tone wear off?
It is a plated finish made for daily wear. Avoid chemical cleaners and abrasive polishes, and take it off for heavy lifting to protect the relief.
What if I do not know his ring size?
Measure the inside width of a ring he already wears, or choose size 10, a common men's size. A wide band fits snugger than a thin one, so size up when in doubt.
What is the Saint Benedict medal?
A Catholic devotional medal honoring Saint Benedict of Nursia, with a cross at its center and the initials of Latin prayers around it. Many men wear it as a sign of faith and protection.
What do the letters on the medal mean?
On the traditional medal they are initials of Latin prayers, such as C.S.P.B. for Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti, the Cross of the Holy Father Benedict. This face reproduces the cross, the letters and the border of text in relief.
Where can I buy a Saint Benedict ring like this?
Directly from Atlas, on atlasmens.com. The signet comes in gold-tone or silver-tone, in US sizes 7 to 12.
Why do the letters look darker on the silver-tone?
On the silver-tone version the recesses are darkened, so the lettering stands out against the polished high points. The gold-tone version has a warmer, more even look.
Is it stainless steel?
Yes. It is cast in titanium steel, a stainless steel alloy that resists rust and corrosion and holds its shape through everyday knocks.
