Atlas stood between the sky and the earth so neither would fall. Something has to hold the middle, and in an outfit this chain does. Its wheat links are tight, round and braided, so it moves like a rope and catches light along its whole length. Stainless steel with an electroplated gold-tone finish, in five widths from 3mm to 8mm and five lengths from 18 to 30 in.

The chain is made from stainless steel, a metal that holds its shape and resists rust and corrosion through daily wear, including the shower and the gym. The links are woven in the wheat pattern: four strands twisted into a dense, flexible rope that lies flat against the neck instead of twisting. The braid gives depth close to the skin.

The gold-tone color is applied by electroplating for an even finish from clasp to clasp; it is a plating, and we say so. A lobster clasp closes the chain and stays put through the day. Widths run 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm and 8mm, so the same braid can be a slim accent or the boldest thing you wear.

On its own over a plain white or black tee, the chain carries the outfit. Under an open collar with a shirt or a knit, let a few links show for a warmer, dressed look.
