The piece

The chain is made from stainless steel, a material that resists rust and corrosion and holds up to everyday wear. The links are woven in a continuous spiral, which is what gives the rope chain its rounded, ridged surface and its flexible drape around the neck.

Widths run from a subtle 3mm to a heavier 7mm, in a silver-tone, gold-tone or black finish. Each chain closes with a lobster clasp and fixed end caps, so it opens easily and stays shut once it is on.

How to wear it

A 3mm or 4mm in silver-tone works under a shirt collar and next to a steel watch without competing with it. Go 5mm or wider in gold-tone or black when the chain is the focus, over a white tee or a black crewneck. For layering, pair a shorter 18" with a 24" so the two lines sit clearly apart.

Choosing your size

Lengths are 18", 20" and 24". An 18" sits high on the neck, close to the collarbone; a 20" rests just below it and is the safest pick if you are buying as a gift; a 24" falls onto the upper chest and shows above a crewneck or under an open collar. If you have a broader build or want a pendant to hang lower, size up one step.
