The piece
The band is tungsten carbide, one of the hardest materials used in men's rings, which is why it holds a clean edge and resists everyday scratching. The black color comes from an electroplated finish, and the outer surface is cut into a geometric, faceted pattern rather than left smooth.
A center channel runs the full circumference, filled with gold flakes set against the dark ground. The inside is smooth and polished. The band measures 8mm wide and 2.3-2.5mm thick, with a flat outer profile.
How to wear it
Wear it alone on the ring or index finger, where the width has room to read. It works with a black watch and a white tee, and sits well under a shirt cuff with a suit for a wedding or an evening out. Keep the rest of the hand bare so the gold line stays the focal point.
Choosing your size
Sizes run US 7 through 13 in half sizes, plus 14 and 15. Tungsten carbide cannot be resized, so measure carefully before ordering. This is a wide 8mm band, and wide bands feel tighter than narrow ones, so if you are between sizes or your knuckle is larger than your finger base, go up a half size.

Will the black finish wear off?
The black color is an electroplated finish. Like any plating, it wears best when kept away from abrasive surfaces, harsh chemicals and heavy manual work.
How do I care for it?
Wipe it with a soft dry cloth to bring back the shine, and take it off before using cleaning products or lifting weights with bare hands.
Is it a good gift if I am not sure of his size?
It can be, but tungsten carbide cannot be resized, so check a ring he already wears on the same finger first. Sizes run US 7 to 15.
