The piece

The chain is made from stainless steel (titanium steel), with the gold color applied by electroplating for an even gold-tone finish. Each link is ground on six sides, so the surface breaks the light instead of reflecting it flat.

Cuban links interlock and lie flat, which keeps the chain from twisting on the neck. It closes with a lobster clasp and a solid ring. Choose 4mm for a fine line, 5mm for a middle weight, or 6mm for a more visible presence.

How to wear it

With a white or black tee, a 20" or 22" length sits just below the collarbone and does most of the work on its own. Under an open collar it shows one or two links at the neckline, which works with a shirt and jacket for dinner or an evening out. Match the gold-tone version to a gold watch or ring, or take the silver-tone version if your other pieces are steel.

Choosing your size

Widths come in 4mm, 5mm and 6mm; lengths run 16" (40cm), 18" (45cm), 20" (50cm), 22" (55cm), 24" (60cm), 26" (65cm), 28" (70cm) and 30" (75cm). For most men, 20" (50cm) sits at the collarbone and 22" (55cm) falls just below it, which is the easiest length to wear with a tee. Go 24" (60cm) or longer if you want the chain on the chest or plan to hang a pendant, and choose 18" (45cm) for a close fit at the base of the neck.

Stainless steel is a hard, corrosion-resistant metal, so it stands up well to daily wear, sweat and normal handling. Take it off for the gym, the pool and the shower to keep the finish looking its best.

How do I care for it?

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing and store it on its own so other pieces do not rub against it. Keep it away from perfume, cologne and cleaning products, which can dull any plated finish.
