The band is tungsten carbide, one of the hardest materials used in men's rings. That hardness is why the brushed surface keeps its texture through daily contact with keys, desks and steering wheels. The inside is finished in black and marked TUNGSTEN CARBIDE, and the profile sits flat against the finger, so it stays comfortable next to a watch on either wrist.
The face is brushed to a soft matte sheen and framed by polished black stepped edges. Down the center runs a narrow polished channel in gold tone, the only high-shine element on the ring. The black and the gold tone are electroplated finishes, and we say so; the tungsten carbide underneath does the hard work.
How to wear it
Wear it alone on the ring or middle finger, where the black edges do the work and the gold line stays subtle. Questions
Can the stepped edge tungsten ring stay on for a swim?
Yes. Tungsten carbide does not rust. A soft, dry cloth afterward clears water marks from the brushed face and the black edges.
Will the gold line wear off?
The gold tone is an electroplated finish, so treat it like any plated jewelry and keep abrasives and harsh chemicals away from it. The tungsten carbide underneath is highly scratch-resistant.
Which size should I take in the stepped edge ring if I am between two?
The larger one. It is a wide band, sizes run US 6 to 14 with half sizes up to 13.5, and tungsten carbide cannot be resized later.
What is a stepped edge?
