Atlas was handed the heaviest job there was and did it every day. Your version is smaller and just as constant, so your chain has to keep up. This 4mm Byzantine link is woven from stainless steel into a dense, rounded rope that bends freely and catches light from every side. It comes in polished silver-tone or gold-tone, in five lengths from 16 to 24 in, and closes with a lobster clasp.

The Byzantine pattern is one of the more complex ways to build a chain. Small stainless steel links interlock in a repeating woven pattern, so the 4mm chain becomes a dense, three-dimensional rope rather than a flat row of loops. It stays flexible, moves with you and has a solid feel in the hand. Stainless steel does not rust, so the shower and the gym are not a problem.
There are two finishes, polished silver-tone and gold-tone, both applied by electroplating for an even color along the whole chain, and we say so plainly. Either way the woven links pick up light at every angle, which gives real texture against bare skin or a plain tee. A secure lobster clasp makes it easy to take on and off.
How to wear it
At 4mm the Byzantine stands on its own, so it needs no pendant. Wear it over a crew neck tee and let the texture be the detail, or under an open shirt collar where only part of it shows. Gold-tone warms up navy, olive and white; silver-tone sits well with a steel watch. Keep other jewelry in the same tone so the woven link stays the focus.
Choosing your size
Lengths are 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 in. A 16 in chain sits close around the base of the neck; 18 and 20 in are the usual choices and rest at or just below the collarbone; 22 and 24 in fall lower, onto the chest. The width is fixed at 4mm. If he is broad through the neck, take the next length up. Measuring a chain he already owns is the surest check.
